Adventure Racing Training Day, October 30th, 2010

On Saturday it was great to see so many newbies at the Adventure Racing Training Day held at Total Experience, Blessington.  Some of the team were on hand to do some talks and also race alongside the teams as they made their way around the course.  It was a super day and it was brilliant to see so many enthusiastic new faces.  Hopefully Sean will be be organizing a few more training days in the upcoming months.

Irish AR take 5th Place in Adidas Terrex

Irish AR took 5th place in a very challenging Adidas Terrex Race last weekend.  The race covered 400 Km of the Lake District’s toughest terrain.  Check out the super videos and photos of the race at http://www.adidas-ar.com/newsite/index.php

The Team are currently gearing up for the Adventure Racing World Champs taking place in Spain from September 30th to October 8th!

Adidas Terrex, August 26th – 30th

Next weekend the team will compete in the Adidas Terrex, a 400 Km adventure race in the Lake District, Cumbria, UK.  The team are making final preparations and gear decisions.  The Terrex is sure to be a great race, albeit tough!  The race will be websurfer friendly, so teams can be tracked via the official website.  So far the race break down is looking like:  100km on foot, 250km on bike and a 65km paddle.  This will be the last race in the lead up to the World Championships in October!

Beast of Ballyhoura Winners!

Basecamp Adventure Racing Guru Night, August 4th, 2010

Outdoor adventure store hosted the first of its events, starting off with an Adventure Racing Guru night.  Eoin and Chris spoke about the upcoming Gaelforce race, discussing gear, nutrition and strategy.  Avril discussed and introduced the crowd to Expedition racing.  Thanks to Endurox R4 for the spot prizes! It was a super night with over 80 attendees…. a sign of how the sport is growing in Ireland!

Team wins Ireland’s toughest race, “Beast of Ballyhoura”

This past weekend, Eoin, Avril, Chris and Brian won the Beast of Ballyhoura, known as Ireland’s toughest adventure race.  The team were the only ones to complete the whole course and still finish ahead of the rest of the field.  The team won a 7 day training week in Ballyhoura along with the one of a kind ‘beast’ moulds.  The team are now back to training for the Adidas Terrex on August 27th.
